mpuryear@kumc.eduProfessional Background
I am a University of Missouri – Kansas City student who is in my fourth year in the Counseling Psychology PhD program. I currently have two years of practicum experience that took place in community and university settings.
My areas of clinical interests include working with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, trauma, people from multicultural backgrounds and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I take an integrative approach that is rooted in person-centered care but also includes acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, multiculturalism, and social justice.
In my free time, I enjoy playing Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch, spending time with family, and trying new places to eat.
