Graduate Faculty Appointment Status

Graduate Faculty status is required for eligibility to teach a graduate course, serve on a graduate student's examination or defense committee or provide oversight for a student's clinical experience or clinical rotation. Recommendations for graduate faculty status are submitted by graduate degree-granting departments to the Office of Graduate Studies for Dean of Graduate Studies approval. Graduate Faculty are appointed with either Dissertation, Regular or Special status. Each of these appointment categories is defined in detail in the Academic Catalog.

Appointment Process

Submission of a recommendation for appointment to the Graduate Faculty is made by the academic program's Graduate Director (or designee) via the Graduate Faculty SharePoint site. Only the Graduate Director (or designee) has access to use this site.
