Representatives from over 50 health care employers attend KCO in hopes of recruiting the most talented health care professionals in Kansas.

From how to select the right opportunity, to what you can expect practicing in a rural area, a panel of health care providers will share their experiences working in rural Kansas. This eye-opening discussion is for medical students, physician assistant students, or any other type of health care student. The panel is next door to the career fair.

KCO Health Care Career Fair is the largest in Kansas! Start building relationships with over 50-55 health care employers in Kansas—learn what rural and underserved Kansas communities have to offer, meet employers with mission-focused incentives, brush up on interviewing and communication skills, and inquire about loan forgiveness and repayment options. Registration is free and includes beverages, hors d'oeuvres (depending on COVID regulations) and fabulous prize drawings.

There are several free public parking lots and a parking garage in the vicinity.

Even if you will not be practicing for several years, there are several reasons why KCO may still be for you:

  • Receive information from national and state loan forgiveness programs.
  • Network with future colleagues and administrators.
  • Discover the wide range of practice options Kansas communities offer.
  • Talk with exhibitors about providing Locum Tenens temporary coverage for them and make extra money during residency.
  • Scope out what kind of physician specialties Kansas communities are projecting they will need.
  • Get the inside scoop on what it's like to practice in rural Kansas at the panel presentation at 3 p.m
  • How far in advance are employers willing to sign physicians?
  • Do they take part in loan forgiveness or repayment programs?
  • Do they hire residents to provide temporary coverage (a.k.a. moonlighting) through the Kansas Locum Tenens program? (Residents can earn extra money and gain valuable experience working in various facilities.)
  • What is their patient population?
  • What services are available at their hospital?

Dress is business casual.

Bring a copy of your CV/résumé and a list of questions that you would like to ask exhibitors.

To win prizes, simply visit at least 10 different exhibitors and have them initial your form and turn it in at the registration desk for the prize drawings before you leave. There will be a variety of wonderful prizes from local businesses. Individual exhibitors may also have giveaways. Need not be present to win.

KCO is free to all attendees!
