ROOTS program

The Rural Opportunities and Outreach to Students (ROOTS) program aims to be a comprehensive program of the Rural Medicine Interest Group at the KU School of Medicine. The goals of ROOTS center around supporting and guiding rural and rurally minded junior high, high school, and undergraduate students towards medicine as a profession and calling. The organization strives to support students in academic, personal, and professional spheres, creating an environment where personal initiative and skill can thrive, and where future rural doctors can be inspired, encouraged, and formed. The program includes three major areas including outreach to junior high/high schools, pre-medical mentorship, and a summit on rural health care.

Supporting Future Health Professionals through HOSA

This presentation will go over the benefits of HOSA, how HOSA helps support the health care workforce, and how stakeholders can become involved in HOSA. There will also be a brief mention of our Area Health Education Center Health Career Exploration programming.
