Training
Safe Zone Training
Help build a diverse and inclusive learning environment by participating in the Safe Zone program. This two-hour training, coordinated by the Office of Student Life, will encompass education around the issues of sexual orientation and gender identity as a way to develop a safety net for students, faculty and staff struggling with these issues. Members of the program will be a visible network of allies who support each other and support individual LGBTQIA+ people.
The Safe Zone training will discuss respectful terminology, transgender concerns and other topics that will help you become a better ally. When people see a person who has displayed the Safe Zone logo, they will know this person has self-identified as a supporter and advocate of the LGBTQIA+ community and can expect this person to listen, respect their confidentiality and provide them with resources.
Visit the KU Medical Center Diversity Calendar to see upcoming Safe Zone training sessions and other events.
