Kelly Berry, SLPD, CCC-SLP

Professional Background

Kelly Berry, SLPD, CCC-SLP, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech at KU Medical Center. She joined the faculty in July 2021 and currently teaches graduate-level courses on evaluation of speech and language and on school-aged language disorders.

Berry also serves as clinical educator for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at KU Medical Center. She also works for the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies Clinic of The University of Kansas Health System.

With experience in a wide variety of clinical settings, Berry has provided services a speech-language pathologist to young patients from infants to high school age in public schools in Washington state and Maine. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and specializes in working with children who have hearing impairments, and those who have intellectual disabilities.

Academic Background

In 2020, Berry earned a clinical doctorate in speech-language pathology from the University of Kansas. Currently she is working on a doctorate in philosophy in speech-language pathology at the University of Kansas. She previously received a master's degree in speech-language pathology from Fontbonne University, St. Louis, and a bachelor's degree in communication disorders from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.

Overview

Kelly's research interests include implementation science and scholarship of teaching and learning. She is current principal investigator on two grants: "Effect of Student Journal Club on Knowledge of EBP andamp; Critical Appraisal Skills," and "Perceptions of SPLH Research Reading Journal Club: A Qualitative Study."
