Frequently Asked Questions about KU's certificate program in Nuclear Medicine Technology

Get answers to the most common questions we hear about the Nuclear Medicine Technology certificate.

Are unofficial transcripts acceptable?
No. Only official transcripts, sent directly from your academic institution to KU, are accepted. Applicants may not provide transcripts themselves directly to KU. Applicants may submit unofficial transcripts during the application process. However, official transcripts will be required prior to the start of classes in the fall semester.

Can I apply if I do not yet have all prerequisite courses completed?
Yes. You can apply without all courses being completed. Prerequisites must be completed and documented by official transcripts sent to KU prior to enrollment for nuclear medicine courses starting in the fall semester.

Is a distance-learning option available?
No. All courses are conducted at KU Medical Center and require you to attend on campus. This is not an online program.

What are the transfer student requirements?
Students who apply with prior clinical hours/didactic coursework from another nuclear medicine technology program will not be granted credit for that experience.

Where do I complete my prerequisite coursework?
Students can complete the required courses at the University of Kansas or at another accredited institution.

Is the background check required when applying to the program?
A background check is not required during the application process, but students are required to follow the background check procedure once accepted into the program and to complete it before entering the program.

I already have a degree, but it's not from a U.S. college or university. What steps do I need to take?
All non-U.S. transcripts must be evaluated before they will be accepted. Please see our information for international students page for more details about this procedure.
