Our one-year Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship, when completed successfully, provides board eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

The AIM of the University of Kansas Medical Center Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship is to train:

  • early and mid-career physicians called from different specialty backgrounds seeking robust clinical training focused on symptom management, communication, and patient and family centered care.
  • well-rounded fellows by exposure to a wide array of serious illness populations, academic and community settings, hospice and palliative care, patients upstream in the illness trajectory through those at the very end-of-life.
  • fellows who value the importance of quality of life for patients of any age and the important and influential transition points faced by patients and families during serious illness.
  • clinicians, physician educators, advocates, and program leaders prepared for a thriving career in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

About our program

Our mission also includes the education of medical providers at all levels, across the disciplines of medical practice, to impact how care is delivered not only at KU, but wherever our graduates go to practice, in the state of Kansas and beyond.
