2023 Virtual Art Show

The Office of Graduate Medical Education is dedicated to the well-being of residents and fellows. Creativity, in all its multiple expressions, is one way to manage well-being. Welcome to our 2023 University of Kansas Medical Center and KU School of Medicine Annual Art Show.

This year, the 2023 them of the Art Show is “Reflection and Renewal,” one that invites us to think about the relationship between these two concepts. Reflection is looking back, and renewal is looking forward. By creating art, we can use our experiences in the past to move ahead and transform those experiences. By viewing art, we can reflect on our own experiences and gain insight into ourselves. Creating meaning is transformative and can help us manage the stressors we experience.

2022 Virtual Art Show

For the 2022 University of Kansas Medical Center and KU School of Medicine Art Show, the committee chose the theme “Hope Rising”.  When we create, we are adding something to the world and ourselves. Our attitude change as we bring something into the world that has value and meaning to us.

2021 Virtual Art Show

See the innovative ways GME trainees, faculty and staff are employing creative endeavors to manage their well-being.

For the 2021 University of Kansas Medical Center and KU School of Medicine Art Show, the committee chose the theme “Transformed and Transcended- Art helping us move to a better place”.  As we continue to adapt to our new way of working and learning while living with COVID19 we turn to our creative outlets to allow us space to release.

We have transformed and adapted in the past two years, and our art helps us transcend from our daily stressors. Using our talents, we found ways to celebrate the beauty and preciousness of this time.

2020 Virtual Art Show

In November 2020, we hosted a Virtual Art Gallery, titled "From the Ashes: How we have thrived in this season of tumult." You can explore images from the show on Flickr.

55-Word Stories Project

Sharing our experiences in health care-especially during intense, emotional or stressful times-increases our connectedness and well-being. In 2020, KU Medical Center created a web page highlighting submitted stories from our community. Visit the 55-Word Stories Project website to read stories from students, residents, faculty and staff from across the medical center.
