The School of Nursing, which began in 1905, has a long history of dedicating expertise and resources toward building healthy communities and advancing the nursing profession through practice, research and education. The school has built an international reputation for outstanding academic programs and as a place for innovative research.

The School of Nursing provides a resource-filled and student-centered environment for every level of a nurse's career, and students have access to experienced faculty and nursing researchers. Ranked No. 21 in the National Institutes of Health-funded public nursing schools nationwide, the School of Nursing alumni and faculty are among the field's most accomplished leaders.

The mission of the School of Nursing is to "Educate diverse students for evolving roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders; discover and integrate new knowledge for nursing and healthcare practice; and apply expertise in service to the global community."
