University of Kansas School of Nursing-Salina Overview

KU School of Nursing-Salina offers students a nursing education that places a focus on the critical role of rural health care.

Building on a history of excellence and quality education, the KU School of Nursing (SON) located in Kansas City, Kansas, established the Salina satellite campus to attract and educate professional nurses in rural Kansas.

The focus of the SON-Salina program is to provide quality clinical training in a rural setting, exposing students to the values of living and working in a smaller community. The long-term goal is that graduates will choose to practice in rural Kansas communities after graduation.

Salina Campus Highlights

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program with curriculum identical to the BSN program offered in Kansas City.
  • 24 students are admitted into each incoming class
  • Educational content is delivered via interactive, distance education technology from the Kansas City campus and by onsite faculty.
  • Students have access to state-of-the-art technology and diverse clinical experiences.
  • Students participate in interprofessional education activities with KU medical students.
