PREP -KC

Learn how the School of Nursing is working with PREP-KC to offer Kansas City's urban students an introduction to a career in nursing.

The University of Kansas Medical Center is a postsecondary education partner of PREP-KC's HealthStart program. Each year, KU School of Nursing welcomes students from Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) for the HealthStart & Life Sciences Initiatives program.

The collaboration between the KU School of Nursing, PREP-KC and KCKPS offers Kansas City students an introduction to the skills and experiences needed to accelerate their entry into health care professions.

HealthStart students gain hands-on experience in nursing through college coursework and workforce certification opportunities that allows them to graduate from high school with workforce credentials like Certified Nursing Assistant credentials as well as making significant progress towards an associates’ degree.
